Delicious Herby Dumplings
- Winter
- On the Side
If you're looking for a super simple way to jazz up stew this winter, serve these dumplings on the side for a delicious winter warmer....
Top tip: If your stew is too hot for your little one, why not stir some natural yogurt through it. It will cool it right down and add a lovely creamy texture.
Ingredients
200g Self-raising flour
100g Suet
A good pinch Salt
10g Parsley, chopped
1/2 tsp Baking powder
Method
Sieve the flour into a large mixing bowl, then add in the salt, suet, parsley and baking powder.
Spoon in the natural yogurt and mix until the ingredients form a dough.
Using a dessert spoon, take a spoonful of the dough mix and place on top of your stew in a rough ball shape. You want around 3 balls per person.
Place the dumpling-topped stew in the oven for approx. 30 minutes or until the stew bubbles and your dumpling are brown.
Serve with a good helping of greens and carrots, delicious!
