Meet our placement student James
There are lots of people here at Yeo Valley Organic working hard to bring you delicious products, the best recipes, and some spectacular Yeokens prizes.
One of the newest members to join our team here at Yeo is our Digital Marketing Assistant, James, who joined us in June on a 12-month student placement. James is studying Business management with Marketing at the University of the West of England. Having been with us for a few months now we decided to catch up with James to see how he’s settling into his role and life here at Yeo. Here’s what he had to say when presented with our Get to Know Yeo questions…
1. What is your role?
My official role is a digital marketing assistant. This involves helping with all things social and web, such as updating the dairy-go-round and raffle, publishing new blogs and recipes, and responding to customers on our social channels.
2. How do you prefer to start your day?
With my alarm set for 7am most days the first thing I do when I wake up is make a cup of coffee and turn on radio 1’s breakfast show with my favourite DJ Greg James.
4. What made you apply to Yeo?
Throughout my second year at university, I spent hours searching for placement opportunities before I came across Yeo Valleys advert. With my dad being an ex-dairy farmer and having grown up in rural North Devon I instantly felt the company suited me and the position offered the exact experience I was looking for so I guess you could say it was a perfect match.
5. What’s one thing that has surprised you at Yeo?
The thing that’s surprised me the most since joining Yeo is how much care and attention is put into absolutely everything from the health of the soil to the quirky décor around HQ, no stone is left unturned.
6. What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?
I’m actually quite a good cook (being a student everyone assumes I live off takeaways but that’s not the case at all).
7. If you owned a cow what would its name be?
Steve because why not? everyone needs a Steve in their life.
8. Coffee or tea? Milk in first or last?
Depends on the time of day, coffee in the morning/afternoon, tea in the evening or at any time of day on a Sunday. And always milk in last with both!
9. If you could eat one Yeo Valley product for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I’d have to say our Salted Caramel Ice Cream, its honestly one of the best ice creams I’ve ever tasted (I may or may not have demolished 3 tubs in my first week).
10. And finally, what is your favourite Yeo recipe?
My favourite Yeo recipe would have to be Garden herb butter Gnocchi, although I haven’t made it myself yet, I was lucky enough to be involved in the summer recipe shoot where I got to try it and it was so good, I’m definitely going to have to give it a go.
